The Bad Mind

BUN BADMIND!!

So bad mind, it’s in our everyday experience. We encounter people who wake up angry with the world, frustrated with their circumstances, or just like to emit negative energy for no reason. These are pure examples of the bad mind. The rooted meaning from the Caribbean is, an evil or suspicious mind.
Malicious thoughts or intentions; spite, animosity.

I myself was a victim of the bad mind. A certain point in life I found myself battling greed, lusting, intrigued by the ‘what if’ with no good intent what so ever. These were very dark days in my past. It lead me down a road of addiction, self destruction, and illness. It wasn’t until life took me on a first hand crash course which I then knew change of pace was much needed.

I’ve been blessed with a gift which allows me to showcase a purpose in life, something people struggle with facing day to day. What forced me to wise up was appreciating/understanding the who, what, where, when, why, and how of myself in order to move forward. For me, it’s put God first. Before anything else is accomplished, I have to appreciate the most high. Second is my mind. I don’t meditate, but I am familiar with different forms of self preservation. Lastly would be my actions. Being accountable for what I do or don’t do that could alter my wellness. Now that I have this sense of structure, I am able to find the joy in all, most importantly in what I do.

I hear a lot of Bad Mind talk in the music I consume, from Hip Hop, to reggae, even in new-age R&B. But searching on the internet I came across this article where founder of ListenMi.com, Kenia Afreeka, elaborates with blissful taste how intricate of an energy bad mind really is. The article is called “Bad Mind as a Superpower” and within the read she explains how bad mind conceptually came about as well as other forms of how bad mind can be perceived. Here’s an excerpt from the passage;

“At the risk of sounding super social science-y for just a second, I’d hypothesize that the Bad Mind Phenomenon results from a post-colonial epidemic of stunted dreams, long suffered by generations of trauma-surviving descendants of freedom fighters.

So our history combined with our modern materialistic values have produced at least 4 Bad Mind varieties, 2 of which with some added value can be converted into positively charged energy sources.”

Generalizing Kenia’s words, it’s a pretty low frequency of thought process. She then breaks down 4 types of various bad mind circumstances where the thought process is of the same nature. People who are lazy to accomplish their own dream, so they wish misfortune upon others. Not allowing you to prosper more than they have in life. Negativity towards other’s success. Lastly inadvertently encouraging someone’s success.

Playing devil’s advocate, I think we’ve all had our own personal experiences with the bad mind. With social media on a frenzy it’s also easy to fall back into the trap. It’s imperative we stay above the material, social, idiocracy among us today. There’s a war going on outside, and the least we can do is prove to one another, humanity still exist and we have each other’s back. Before I go, if I could share some last minute advice, let us try our best and just be good people. Live in love, and continue to spread positivity even if it’s something that doesn’t ‘tickle your fancy’. Positivity is a energy that comes back full circle no matter how it’s deliver. Say hi to your neighbor, give a head nod to a stranger in the supermarket, hold the train door for that person in a rush. Whatever it may be do it with a positive attitude, and lastly….BUN BAD MIND.
