These are the Times & Times are Hard...
Peace, I hope this post finds you well. First off welcome to the ATTIE experience. What you are about to endure are vivid thoughts, actual dreams, real people, brilliant ideas, & most of all culture. All aspects expelled for your indulgence in as many ways possible. How this all came about took years in the making but the legacy has only just begun. For those that know me personally throughout the years it brings me great pleasure to acknowledge you all in this post. Without the friendships, heartaches, good times and bad, all in which is a major contribution to the process of the bigger picture. So secondly, big up yourselves. ATTIE is my new wave of expression. Though we all have this love, hate relationship/connection to social media, it has proven to be a detrimental source to our necessary/daily functionality, so I gave up on the likes and & tapped into this as my new form of expression.
As time goes by I’ll continue to share more and more about myself, life, experiences, art, music, my friends, and future, or whatever there is to come of it. Some of these blog post will be extensively long for no reason, others will be as irrelevant as Kanye’s twitter rants, nonetheless it’s a gateway to being vulnerable as an artist. With these blogs I intend on touching topics of social issues, metaphysics, and why everything is considered to be BABYLON TINGZ!; pretty much any issues our times seem to be going up against. Hence the motto, ‘these are the times and times are hard’. The entendre was intended to speak on the watches I started making initially, but spoke volumes to my livelihood at the same time. Sharing some of my early work with friends and family, the automated response would sound something along the lines of ‘tough’, ‘fire’, ‘hard’, ‘crazy’ or ‘sick’, which represented the conditions we were either currently in, or coming from so it only made sense. Contrary to what was being said, it’s a part of our language, our culture, our means of compliments to express blessings for something good.
Before I get too in-depth with it all, i’ve opened this blog as a ‘comments on’ section for those that want their voices heard and also a way for me to connect with you. Might I add, these blogs aren’t The NY Times post, these are ‘our times’ post, so please don’t expect eloquent artistry with my speech. I’m a Brooklyn native who has fully indulged and also has influence from within the inner city for a major portion of my life. That being said, my words aren’t based for any particular class, group, gender, or political party biases. These post are inspired from my experiences and will reflect onto those who understand, relate, or can catch the vibe. For those who are familiar with Malcolm X’s, “If you want to hide something from the negro, put it in a book”, ATTIE post are made to evoke emotion but also be the influence and flip the script. Not just for reading, but writing, drawing, singing, dancing, and whatever it is you fathom for it to be.
Tell a friend to tell a friend, The ATTIE Project has launched. I will continue to do my best to inspire, teach, build, and grow with you all, for these are the times, & times are hard.
Love.
